I have been trying for ever (well at least the last 7 years) to get my husband to ditch his white toast and marmite. Something he has had for breakfast ever since I meet him. He is an active guy with a labour intensive job and by 10am he was hitting the tuck shop for more flour filled, sugar laden rubbish to fill him up till lunch time. Until I introduced him to my superfood breakfast pots.
Know your nutrients
The combination of fruit, nuts and fibre in these pots maintain your blood sugar levels throughout the morning, helping you avoid that mid morning slump and keep those sugar cravings at bay. I usually make 2 or 3 at a time as they last in the fridge for up to three days. They are loaded with superfood benefits including Goji berries antioxidants, Vitamin A, B, C and E, Iron and essential amino acids. Goji Berries have more Vitamin C that any other food on earth. Then there is the Cinnamon, the blood sugar regulator, anti-bacterial brain food. The super spice!
Square One Balancing Breakfast Pots
- 3 TBSP Whole Organic Oats
- 1 TBSP Decicated Coconut
- 2 TBSP Frozen Black Currents
- 1 TSP Cinnamon
- 1 TBSP Goji Berries
- 1 TBSP Whole Almonds
- 1 TBSP LSC (Ground Linseed, Sunflower Seed, Chia)
- 1/2 cup of water, coconut milk or almond milk
- 1/2 Banana
- 1 tsp Manuka Honey (optional - if you need it sweet)
Add all ingredients to a glass jar and mix in until well combined. Mash in your banana. Make sure there is about 1-2 cm of liquid on top of the mix as the oats and almonds will soak this up overnight. Leave overnight in the fridge. In the morning simply grab and go or add warm milk of your choice on the cooler mornings! The oats are a low GI food meaning you stay full for much longer.
