Square One Organic Sugar Free Chocolate - The good stuff

Our chocolate recipe forms the base of so many of our sweet kitchen creations. Using raw organic cacao powder, coconut oil, vanilla and honey, you will be hard pressed to find a more simple, healthier alternative to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Know your nutrients

Each of the ingredients in this recipe are nutritional power houses on their own. Cacao is rich in magnesium, a mood booster and great for heart and arterial health. Coconut oil is a healthy form of saturated fat, and the only form that is instantly absorbed and utilised by your body. This makes it a much more easily digestible fat, putting less stress on your digestive system. It's also sent directly to your liver where it is immediately converted into energy rather than being stored as fat. It also stimulates your metabolism!

Raw honey is a natural probiotic, enzyme rich and anti bacterial. Local raw honey is even better as contains pollen that is specific to your area and therefore can really help those local seasonal allergies. This doesn't mean you can eat it in Pooh Bear quantities, as it is still a sugar, but in moderation it is a wonderful sweet treat. Raw is always best as it has not been processes or heated so retains all it's amazing health qualities. Vanilla, used by the Mayans for hundreds of years, contains B Vitamins particularly Riboflavin (B2) which plays a key role in energy metabolism. 


Square One Organic Sugar Free Chocolate


  • 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons organic coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup organic cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon raw organic local honey
  • 1 teaspoon organic vanilla essence


Put coconut oil into a pot and gently simmer until it is a liquid. Add sieved Cacao powder to the heating oil and stir constantly with whisk to avoid any lumps.  Add Honey and vanilla. Keep stirring constantly. Once the mixture begins to thicken remove it from heat. 

Pour into cupcake wrappers, shaped tins, or whatever you choose to have the shape and size chocolate you wish. Pop it in the fridge for around half an hour. You can use this chocolate base to design your own sweet treats. We love adding goji berries, almonds and buckwheat to make a moorish and crunchy slice, or simply pour over blended frozen banana for a guilt free dessert. Get creative and experiment! Oh, and try not to eat it all at once!
